Long time no see

Local pub, local time - 7 pm
Familiar eyes throw a glance at me
Well known stranger, not an idea who you are
And where you came from

Like coming back to a place where we were
When we were kids
A new perspective
And the lens is such clear, like it wasnít for a long time
Some of the buildings look smaller than they used to

Some of them cease to exist
And some are new
Like the postcard shop where the grocery was
And a supermarket advertises where the butchery was

But the church is still there and the alleyway
That leads to the hill between the houses
And even if you could not find it instantly
Itís still appropriate to fascinate you

For a moment it seems you succumb to the charms
Of the little cottage on the hill at the edge of the forest
But itís growing dark, you get in the car, driving along
And a memory stays inside your head
Until youíre coming home and longer

Wanted to know how you are
Good to know that youíre okay
I see your face, I recognise
I hear your voice,
You speak faster than you used to
But that could be imagination
Long time no see!

You grin at me and for a second
Itís like something deep inside
Begins to glow again
And I wake up, itís my local pub
And itís 1996

Wanted to know how you are
Good to know that youíre okay
I see your face, I recognise
I hear your voice,
You speak faster than you used to
But that could be imagination
Long time no see!
